Could the FT-17 been pressed earlier into service? It was after all, a first modern tank, with all the things that made modern tanks what they are today (Fully rotating turret, engine in the back, crew in front).
So are the next few things possible?
- FT-17 put into service earlier then OTL (31.5.1918) and in greater numbers.
- French military fully concentrating on a light tank concept, rather then keeping several different tanks in production at the same time. (Saint-Chamond and Char 2C)
-Lastly, could there have been more modernized versions of FT-17 in active service after it has become obsolete as a tank. (Self Propelled gun, artillery tractor, tank destroyer)?
So what do you think? Is it possible, and more importantly, is it plausable?
