Earlier introduction of Soybeans to the western Eurasia and North Africa.

I was thinking what would the effect have been if Soybean made it to Europe and the Middle East much earlier. I was thinking between 800-1500. Soybean fill the same farming niche as peas and clover as a nitrate fixating crop. But it also produce more useful crop.

What would the effect of the earlier introduction be?

Well, modern soybeans are more useful than field peas. But how much difference was there then?

Europe had peas, which probably thrived anywhere soy would; plus indigenous beans (fava, for instance), plus New World beans once the New World was discovered.

Would soy really have been more than a minor increment to European agriculture?
