earlier human settlement in Americas by 30.000 BCE ?

what if human settled in Americas 40.000-30.000 BCE. will Quaternary extinction event happen?. can humans begin with corn domestication 10.000 BCE instead of 8.000 BCE?

This probably belongs in the geologic/evolutionary group but whatever.

One of the theories is that the Americas were first colonized in that 40-30 kya followed by a latter wave of settlers when the land bridge reopened later. So if that's true then your POD isn't really a POD at all. Honestly though I don't think that you could make any assumptions about the course of history that far back since even tiny changes are likely to butterfly everything away.

I think the megafauna extinctions in N America are still likely to occur. If they were the result of climate change then it's inevitable. If humans were the cause (separately or on top of climate change) then it's still likely to happen when the climate shifts after people arrive.

It would be fun if people settling the Americas that early were Denisovan or Neanderthal fleeing the wave of Hsap.sap.

Hmm, that could be interesting. I'd go with the Denisovans, who were already living in close vicinity to Beringia in 41,000 BC IOTL, writing such an ATL in a similar manner to Stephen Baxter's Northland Trilogy. Of course TTL's 'Columbian Exchange' (although I very much doubt that Christopher Columbus will be around ITTL to play a role) will be far more severe than OTL's, with the very real possibility of wiping out all of the native American Denisovans, but hey, it'll be interesting while it lasts...

Actually, I imagine that Hsapsap will still enter the Americas, very like otls palaeoindians. But there would be varying amounts of interbreeding and the*modern day geneticists would have a field day!
