Earlier and greater purge of Jewish intellectualism in Nazi Germany

Many Jewish physicists and other enemies of the Nazi Party fled the country after Hitler came into power, who later went on to make major contributions to the British and later the American atomic bomb project. Is it plausible that a high-ranking Nazi Party leader such as Goebbels could have foreseen this as being an advantage to other countries and attempt to assassinate/imprison many of the notable Jewish scientists in Germany soon after Hitler became Chancellor?

It is very hard because the Nazi "religious belief" said they were inferior and would harm the allies. A person is capable of holding conflicting religious beliefs and operating on each one in isolated areas of their life, but it is not common.

What was The Prewar (WW2) Jewish population of Germany?

AFAIK it was very small, although Austria would have been high enough as would Czechoslovakia!

Early, pre-"final solution" Nazism's goal was to "encourage" Jews to emigrate from Germany so I don't see them trying this. Also, they would have ridiculed the work they were doing as "Jewish science," they wouldn't have been in fear of it.

Tricky that, recognising the threat posed by an obscure field of research of interest understood by only a limited number of people; a Jew Science at that. The likes of Himmler and Gobbles were more comfortable with the occult than the periodic table.
