We don't. It has not cultural root in any country.

Which is its primary strength.

Why do you think Latin faded away ?

Because a diplomatic system where there were many, roughly equal centres of power with different languages was replaced by a diplomatic system where only a couple of strong centralised states had any significant power. Modern Europe more closely resembles the former than the latter.

I think the only way would be to do something similar to what happened in South America with spanish.A centralized government, possibly neo-Nazi or something like the movie V for Vendeta (the actual economic crisis provokes neonazi ascension), imposes a common language, Esperanto.

The official language need not necessarily be the common one. In fact choosing a "neutral" language--one that isn't spoken in any member state--would have the advantage of putting everyone on an equal footing. In that regard I agree it isn't as implausible as one might think.

Somehow prevent the rise of the National Socialists. They killed every Speaker of Esperanto they catched.

Both Hitler and Stalin killed Esperanto by killing those that spoke it.

It's sad that it's often overlooked that Esperanto just went into a massive decline because there were so few people left to speak it.

Well, I was thinking in an extremist government, nazi, communist one like V of Vendetta or one like the movie Children of Men...They could use esperanto as lingua franca or something like that. I didn´t know that nazis treated esperanto speakers with that matters,so something new that I learned today! je je

Well the inventor of Esperanto was a Jew, this made the language automatically something bad, which threatened the purity of the aryan heritage.
There was also the fear that the Speaker - which were often organized in international union and had many contact would to other countries - would serve as spies.
Then there is also the fact that most of the Esperanto Speaker were intellectuals which made them suspects anyway.
