London prepares for state visit by Emperor Akihito
By Anthony Pyros– The Telegraph
September 8; 2015
(Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko at Tokyo Airport)
(London) Not since the celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of the end of World War 2 has a Japanese Emperor visited the UK, but tomorrow that changes when Emperor Akihito arrives in London for the celebrations marking the 70th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. The 82 year old monarch is making the trip to London despite suffering from a bout of Pneumonia in March. As well as celebrating the 70th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, Emperor Akihito and Prime Minister Cameron will discuss other matters such as the economy, military co-operation and cultural exchanges. Chief amongst the topics discussed will be the increasing tensions in North America, which have been increasing since the QSM petitioned President Asher for admittance into the Union, which raised tensions between Washington and Richmond. Also on the agenda will be the European Union and its increasingly hostile rhetoric directed at the UK for the latter's refusal to join the European Union as a full member instead of an associated member, the Euro-zone or the European Economic Area. As a sign of the deep friendship between the UK and the Empire of Japan, Emperor Akihito will award David Cameron with the Supreme Order of the Chrysanthemum. The state visit by the Emperor to London earned Downing Street a rebuke from Brussels, which said that “The UK should be celebrating the end of the war with its European partners, not an Empire from half a world away”. Brussels announced plans for it's own anniversary celebrations with heads of state from all over the EU are expected to attend.
