DWBI: Senator John F Kennedy Wins 1960 election?

As I am sure you are all aware, John Kennedy died yestesday. He was the candiate for the Democratic party in 1960, and fought a very good campaign, but lost the knifedge election when New Jersey declared for Nixon by 2000 votes. So my question is, what if he wins New Jersey, and has to do a deal with the unpledged electors to get into the white house or wins Missouri and Illionis (Both very close states) and gets into the white house that way? Would he win in 1964 like Hubert Humphery later did?

He was really young then and hadn't yet kicked his drug problems. His autobiography states that he spent a few years in the sixties constantly on amphetamines for his back. I'd be worried what a president would do with a drug addiction, to say nothing of the blackmail potential. It was different when he announced that he'd beaten the addiction rather than it coming out that the president was a druggie.

Assuming he gets in and dodges those issues I doubt he'd ever have a daughter with Marilyn Monroe if he were president. Speaking for half the population I can't think of anything he'd do as president that would make up for her not being born.

If he still had the affair with MM, no, he doesn't win a 2nd term. They had Morals in the early Sixties, unlike the Nineties when the press helped cover up President Hart's affair(s).

If he doesn't have the affair, then he'd probably win re-election, given the economy. And we'd lose a great actress/activist/political leader in Ms. Monroe.

The affair only came out in 1971, when his daughter was eight. I can't see any reason why it wouldn't stay secret while he was president.

Would jFK have sent tens of thousands to Cuba
The Isle de la Juventud invasion had been planned in the Eisenhower adminsation, but Kennedy did support the intial attack, and later supported the sending of American troops to Mainland Cuba in 1963 at the request of the Nueva Gerona Government, so yes.

That philandering junkie? Ha! Maybe if his daddy got the Illinois machine to get a few more skeletons to the polls he could have pulled a win.

But as President, he'd have a harder time hiding it from the press. The White House staff would have outed him, unlike the staff at his mansion.

John Kennedy was quite a good senator, especially pushing through the President's healthcare plan though the Senate in 1986. And he got off the Painkillers by 1967, as stated in his autobiography. But then I suppose you are one of those mad constitutionist Republicans who would happily see a President Cruz in November.

I wonder if Oswald might try to do take a shot at Kennedy or someone else in his administration like he did at Vice-President Lodge. Y'know, I don't think Nixon handled that situation very well. He tried to make too much of an issue of Lodge's martyrdom, and it became overused by the time of 1964.
