DWBI: President Ronald Reagan

If Ronald Reagan hadn't developed cancer of the larynx and died after his 1964 speech at the Republican convention, many have speculated that the wave of popularity from the speech might have propelled him into the presidency. The concept of someone with no leadership experience, whose strongest suit was his ability to deliver a speech--and effectively pretend to be a President-- is mind boggling. Would the Russians take him seriously? Comments anyone?

That buffoon, had he survived to make President he's exactly the sort of idiot to say some thing stupid like

"We stat bombing Russia in 5 minutes"

and come damn close to starting WW3 or at least a major internation incedent

:mad::mad::mad:

Hey come on, he wouldnt be as bad as Billy Carter, who essentially took his brothers political life and split the Democratic vote. Its amazing how that happened in the first place.

He probably would have been known as a great communicator, tough talker, and a teflon leader by his friends and admirerers. Imagine, if he'd won in say, 1976, we wouldn't have had to endure the catastrophy of Ted Kennedy's 3 years as president or the 5 years of Jimmy Carter's following Kennedy's impeachment and removal from office.

I'm no Reagan fan; actually, I thankful he never became President. He certainly might have started WWIII with the former Soviet Union. Reagan certainly lacked the diplomatic finesse of George H W Bush, who's 8 years of hard work as President helped speed up the liberation of eastern europe and the fall of the USSR.

well maybe the republicans might of put Reagan up rather then putting Nixon up against RFK. maybe he could of won. and who knows what that does to Nelson Rockefeller's presidency in '76 or Ted Kennedy's in '80
