Duke Nukem Forvever avoids development hell?

Just like it says in the title. What are the effects on video games and culture if Duke Nukem Forever is released in the '90s without a decade or more of development hell?

This sounds a bit ASBish for me but oh well
There will be no jokes about Duke Nukem, maybe greater controversy due to the nature of the content

Given the sheer amount of changes that the game went through story-wise due to the advances in technology, I'm not sure if a Duke Nukem Forever released on time (or even only a year late) would resemble our own Duke Nukem.

For one thing, he'd probably have a health bar, not regenerative health.

Hmm. Probably it'd be just one more of the "pre-Halo" shooters.

The problem with this is that the programmers of 3DRealms ALWAYS took a lot of time with their games ...

But they changed a hundred times of engine ... your only chance of this is they staying with their original one ( the highly modified Quake one ) instead of switching to the much powerful but horribly developed by that time Unreal one ...

The result will be a one somehow graphically obsolete game, but with a really good game playing and a lot of (politically incorrect) humor ... so like almost every game they had done to that date.

The influx of money will make them made more games, but just 2 or 3 more in all this time ( they are THAT slow ) ...

EDIT: Also DAIKATANA would never exist, so a friggin UTOPIA on Earth ...

It would be not very notable whatsoever. It'd be a generic Half-Life/Quake shooter.

I also imagine Duke Nukem's popularity would be somewhat smaller.
