GRADE CONTROLLED COMPANY WINS MIDLANDS ITV FRANCHISE

The media company ITC (Incorporated Television Company) owned by Mr Lew Grade has been awarded the new 7-day franchise to provide programmes for the Midland region

ITC which has a large stake in the soon to be defunct ATV (Associated Television) will start broadcasting on the 29th of July 1968

Even though the company which will be known as ITC Television will be based in Birmingham they will still control and use the ABPC studios in Elstree, London...one of the new programmes for ITC is Doctor Who, a series mixing live action and model work...

The First Doctor 1968-1972

The Doctor is a member of a race called Gallifreyans. An ancient and technologically superior race. They have used their abilities to travel not just through space but through time itself. This has led to them being labelled by themselves and others “The Timemasters”

The history of the timemasters is a long and bloody one. Initially they used their abilities for fun and pleasure including kidnapping lifeforms and making them playthings in a vicious game of survival in an area of Gallifrey called “The Death Zone”

However this led to turmoil when they captured a member of a race called the “Daleks”, a vicious race of machines who have eschewed all emotions.

The Dalek escaped the Deathzone and informed its fellow machines of the Timemasters.

This led to a millennia long conflict called “The Chrono-war” Daleks fought Timemasters across all of time and space.

The Timemasters now see themselves as protectors of the universe and are determined to destroy the Daleks at all costs.

To that end the Timemasters have created small military units called TID (Temporal Intervention Divisions). The Doctor is a member of one of these teams.
