Doomsday - A true AltHist game :)

Longtime lurker here, but just wanted to tell you about the latest game I've made :)

Its a stand-alone expansion to our WW2 game Hearts of Iron, and the focus scenario is set in a October 1945, where a new war breaks out, fought on the ruins of Europe between the Free World on one side, and Soviet and their new communist Puppets on the other side.

It is a bit implausible, though. The USA starts the war with tossing nuclear weapons on Moscow and another city I forgot. Just shortly after WW2. I dunno.

Could it be? The almighty Johan af Paradox, here at AH.com? ;)

I'd say all the games from CK thru HoI are alt-hist. Never had a game end up in accordance with OTL. Last time (this morning) a surviving Timurid Empire? Da Xi having half of China in 1819, and being around for centuries before that?

//was gonna finally get Crusader Kings and/or Victoria - hitta 'rom ingenstans längs Blå Linjen :(

Woah Johan!
Didn't know he lurked here....Damn...Too many of them....

Does the scenario start with the US nuking Moscow?
That only happens a few hours in- you are already at war prior to that.
Seems to me that it just mutually started at the border or the soviets pushed.
Of course I could be missing a story somewhere...

Sorry to go off-topic, but wasnt there a way to modify HOI 2 so that you could play from 1914-1947???? I thought I saw a file edit once, but havent been able to find it yet.

BTW>>>I saw the previews for HOI 2: DD. looks good.......
....PATTON WOULD BE PROUD!!!!!

It starts with the US dropping a nuclear device on Moscow and Kuybyshev from strategic bombers. From there on the Soviets man-handle most of Europe and the Allied ground troops until more reinforcements arrive from the West and the air and naval superiority of the Allies comes into play.

It's hard playing as the Soviet Union, you're waging a three front war from Europe, Japan and Korea, South Asia and the Middle East. You do have the numerical advantage however and if you manage to aid Communist China and secure their help this can help you a great deal as it allows you to leave the Japanese/Korean front to the Chinese, who can also help with the South Asian front while you deal with Europe and the Middle East.

Yep, you can either download a patch, or open up your scenario file and edit it.

Here is the patch: http://future_world_studio.tripod.com/index.html

your part of the VIP team? I love the VIP mod!

but i have a few qs:D :p

1) Is there a way to get Austria (minus Hungary) to join Germany?
2) How come there are no nations to 'carve out' of Mexico, such as the Yucatian, Republic of Sonora, and the Republic of the Rio Grand?

Thanks!

Thanks for the kudos :D

1) AFAIK yes, but I do not remember ATM. The different Germany unification chains was not my work.

2) Lack of nation tag's. But there seems to be a Yucatan nation comming up in future releases. Go here to vote them in:

Damn, PD servers seems to be down. Will produce link later

HOI2 is mucho awesomeness; I still remember the wonderful feeling of playing as the Soviet Union, having the Germans jump me in April 1941, and being at the Rhine by the end of June.

BTW, Johan, after EUIII is done, is there any possibility of a Victoria II? That, in my opinion, would be pretty cool.

From Akalla, huh? Kista usually has a bit of a rep just 'cause it's all concrete, but Husby an' Akalla - that's tha 'hood. :p

Yeah, had I orded 'em on-line instead of trying to find 'em in a store I could have been playing them for days now. Not sure why it feels foreign to me to buy 'em on-line. I mean, I spend hours every day on-line as it is and booked holidays on-line, but computer games?
Guess I'm just strange like that. :D

Only if its less of a virtua accountaint.
Victoria was good but...the economic side of things was just too big and government controlled.

I'm hoping paradox will give us a map editor for future games- earth is getting boring :p

Try playing Stony Road.

Im playing as the Soviet Union, and Germany has managed to smash into the Ukraine. They 2/3 the division numbers I do and like twice the division ability. Im fighting like a mother to kick them from out of the Baltics and Byelorussia as well.

Its going to be a long war.
