"Doomguy" an Ellen Ripley lookalike/parody?

What if the protagonist of the horror/sci-fi FPS series Doom had been given an appearance roughly resembling that of the protagonist of the horror/sci-fi movie series Alien? Alien was a big influence on Doom after all, and id Software could've easily been influenced by it even more. Such a tiny change could've given birth to a whole army of space marine butterflies, in my opinion, Doom being the grandfather of today's most popular and profitable video game genre.

If Doom is indeed the grandfather of FPS (Wolfenstein being the Neanderthal ancestor, I presume) but I don't think the protagonist/setting has something to do with it.

"Doomgal" would maybe replace Lara Croft as the most recognized female action hero. (quid of Samus Aran?)

Samus is a weird case: she debuted as a generic human being in a space marine suit, but her gender slowly took over her entire character over time (a downward spiral that hit its lowest point with Metroid: Other M). Lara Croft, well, there are two reasons why she became as popular as she is, and everyone knows what they are. Ripley, on the other hand, she's mostly known for being a badass. :D ...and for being kinda hot, sure, but the "badass" part comes first.

As someone who has little to no knowledge of the Metroid franchise, other than the Main Character is a Woman, I'm curious, what is so bad about Metroid: Other M?

From being a badass one-wolf bounty hunter, she became an insecure Ms Fanservice with daddy issues. To the point that she went through a radiation zone without proper protection because her surrogate father didn't specifically instruct her to use her anti-radiation gear.:mad::mad:

I just ignore that game.
