Domitian

And if in 69 AD, Domitian had been killed?
Who to succeed to Titus?
There would be no uprising of Antonius Sarturninus, and maybe an earlier conquest of Dacia.
Without the recalling of Agricola, there would be a total conquest of Caledonia. I have read something on a project of expedition in Hibernia. Would this be possible?

I personaly dont believe Agricola could conquer Caledonia: the situation wasst that different from Germania: not much to conquer with a very hostile population using the scourshed earth tacktiek.

But I seriously have no clue who would be the next emperor: maybe the senate chooses one like OTL???

About the death of Titus, it is often said that it was in fact a murder ordered by Domitian. If this thesis is taken as basis, Titus would continue to reign for some decades. From what I have read in his biography by Suetonius, it would be a great Princeps. But the problem of the succession would be only delayed. I will read again his biography, but it seems to me that he had renounced to marry again after his second wife. So, it would be to a son-in-law to succeed him.

The ground I think, but I can be wrong. A hilly ground, mountains. I didn't see Scotland myself, but it doesn't seem to me that this country is as wooded as Germany.

Never seen it myself either...but I think a mountain terrain would be difficult two:confused:

I believe the problem would be more like : bringing much manpower and cost, and gaining almost....nothing?:D

After Berenice, Titus didn't seem to have been with any women.
About a successor, I found Titus Flavius Sabinus, in OTL married to Julia Flavia, daughter of Titus. An other choice would be his brother, Titus Flavius Clemens, in OTL married to Flavia Domitilla, niece of Titus.

Domitian's heirs during most of his reign were Vespasian and Domitian, the sons of Domitian's cousin, Flavius Clemens. The boys and their father were Titus's closest relatives after Domitian, and could have succeeded him.

About Hibernia, I've read something about an expedition of exploration around 82 AD who was aimed to prepare a future invasion, maybe to create a client-state.
Would this be possible if Agricola isn't recalled?
