Why have monkeys not been Domesticated?

I have read that dogs were domesticated by first wild dogs hanging round near humans and then gradually getting brought into human camps. You can still see this kind of happening today in many third world countries.

Monkeys seem to do at least the first part today in places like India.

At least some species can be trained - e.g. use as service animal

I do understand that monkeys tend to act wilder as they get older, but I don't think early humans would be squeamish about killing them when they became troublesome. And long term, selective breeding, perhaps to encourage neotonous attributes should reduce this problem.

So why hasn't it happened? And what if it had?
