Domesticated Hyenas?

Given that hyenas were widespread and the cave hyena ranged from Iberia to Siberia, what if hyenas had been extensively domesticated? There are lots of instances of people keeping tame hyenas as pets in otl so what would a domesticated hyena be like?

Doubt it would happen their are very specific reasons the ancestors of the domestic dog are the only large carnivore we fully domesticated.

Depends on the exact hyena species. IIRC, striped hyenas have a nuclear family structure somewhat like wolves, so as domestic animals they would not be much different than dogs. Spotted hyenas on the other hand have very complex family structures, on par with primates like baboons. Domesticated spotted hyenas may be more likely to serve as communal pets for the village as a whole than as a pet for a single nuclear family than dogs (some dogs in Pacific Islander and Native American communities are kept this way though).
