In 1980 the US had a GDP of 2.8 trillion, China had a GDP of 202 billion.
In 2030 the US is expected to have a GDP of 25.2 trillion while China is predicted to be at 26 trillion.
In 1980 I doubt anyone would have predicted in a 100 years let alone 50 that China would ever surpass the US in total GDP.
Is the growth of China's economy in the last 30 years so unprecedented that it almost should not have happened? and what was a more likely outcome for China?
