Spare me the sarcasm. British planters in the British West Indies were making money hand over fist right up until the British parliament forced through abolition. The British parliament passed abolition because as a consequence of the great reform act the enlargened electorate was enough in favour of abolition.

Britsh slavery remained profitable through the period. As did American slavery, come to that.
