Divide et Impera, inspired by several other collaborative TLs, is a collaborative TL that stretches from 1738 to 1938, a full two centuries. There are some simple rules which all contributors must abide by:
January 3rd 1738: Crown Prince Frederick of Prussia dies of a sudden infection, and is greatly mourned.
- No particularly egregious wanks: Wanking is acceptable, within the bounds of plausibility (OTL has had weirder things in it). But a wank that leads to, say, France ruling all of Europe by 1740 is completely unacceptable.
- All new entries must be vetted by me for fitting in with the rest of the TL and plausibility: Makes sense, I think.
- Not everything has to go exactly as OTL: If Hitler rises in 1933 despite Germany never existing, that is not a good idea.
- The Butterfly Effect will be gradually enforced, as a corollary to the fourth rule: eg. Most famous early 20th Century figures will definitely not exist, most 19th century ones just might, and figures born in the 18th century after the POD could.
- No foreshadowing: eg. If your post is in 1037, don't reference 1076 unless 1076 has already been laid out. Otherwise you restrict other posters.
- A year must have one event minimum. There is no maximum limit. At 1778 this will change to every month must have an event.
- A post will not be considered canon until 24 hours have passed, during which another poster (myself included) could voice an objection: In the interest of fairness, my own posts will be subjected to this rule.
