Disneyland Havana

That is an intriguingly original idea.
I'll be interested to hear what North-American experts think about it.

Additionally, what about Disneyland Port-au-Prince, or Disneyland Panama? ;)

Before Castro this seems so very Chinese interestingly possible. :D

Havanna has the wrong reputation at the time for it. It was the place you went to do some gambling, some some cigars, enjoy a nice beach fuck a latina whore, et cetera. It's not a family-friendly place.

Maybe if sans Disney World, otherwise Orlando is pretty close.

Maybe it could be linked to the Orlando one?

Which might be part of the appeal for a secondary park with Orlando so close.

Original plans were reportedly to put Disney World near modern Palm Coast, FL but apparently the local landowners figured it out and wanted a lot more money than Disney was willing to pay. They then shifted locations to a cattle town of about 15,000 known as Orlando and bought up a lot of land - some of which I believe is still undeveloped to the north and west of the modern park

Yeah, Reedy Creek Improvement District is huge (38 square miles of Corporate territory) and it isn't the full extent of Disney's holdings in the area. Hell, through RCID, Disney has the power of Eminent Domain, ostensibly to expand the district for the public good.

Yeah, except that'd be a massive deal breaker for Disney. The Mouse lives and dies by it's family friendly reputation. Setting up shop in Havanna is far, far too risky for the company. Sarasota, St. Petersburg, Cape Coral or Punta Gorda would be better locations for a secondary annex to RCID.

yeah read some of the accounts from the neighborhood Disney set up for some of its workers (Celebration?), it sounds like a cross between Orwell and The Sorcerer's Apprentice. Having Havana as a site for Disneyworld would be crossing the line. I do not think you'll see Disney in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Bangkok, Rio de Janiero, Cancun, or Macao either for similar reasons.

Actually, Celebration was just another housing development with pretensions of grandeur (and now it's just an ordinary town with very strict zoning regulations.) It's actually a pretty nice place and very well laid out for a suburb, and they put new-urbanist principles to good effect in it. It does clash with the rest of Suburban Orlando something fierce though, since it doesn't look like overdeveloped ass, and trees are fairly common.
