Assuming the following:
-Canada successfully joined the US during the revolution, and partitioned into more than one state (at least the Ontario peninsula, Quebec east of the Ottawa River, and one other state north of the Great Lakes).
-54°40' was mildly successful, landing the US the new border at 52°, forming a new state with 3° of height.
-Rupert's Land was bought at some point after the Civil War, very likely before 1900, and after Alaska, and the remainder of what we call the Yukon is not contested as US territory by the UK.
How would Rupert's Land be divided up into states? Would any of it near the Hudson Bay be added onto existing states, similar to Nevada gaining several degrees to the east? Would the US create another tier of 3° tall, 7° wide states, and how many?
