Different State Names

Here's a map I made with state names that have removed Spanish names from the map. I figured that most of the states are named after European and Native American peoples/groups, I figured the trend might have continued. Let me know what you think, if anyone has better names, let me know.

The name Texas isn't Spanish as much as it is Indian. Tejas was the Spaniglization of an Indian word meaning friendship. Texas in the Anglo form of Tejas.

That said, where does your name for Texas come from?

Also, you could always through a Jefferson state in there, somewhere. It's oft-talked about in ATLs. Also the similarly influential Founding Fathers: Franklin, Adams; maybe Hamilton and Madison.

Since when is "Georgia" a Spanish name?

Utah is no different. Why is it highlighted?
As others have mentioned: Montana is Spainish, Georgia, Louisiana (Louis XIV), Alaska, and Texas aren't, etc.

And if the "trend might have continued," then where did it start here? Louisiana was named before the 1800's, it's the (very small) rump of the Louisiana Territory. Georgia was named in the 1730's, Florida was named in 1521. California was not going to be changed from California (the Spainish name) when America won the Mexican-American War, or when they became a state just a few years later. If most states were named for Europeans or Indian tribes, then there's some serious problems. By the way, where are the European names, anyway?

Okay, my bad, I was half-asleep when I made the map, how about a little revision.

I was thinking nation of Georgia, because I was in duh mode, and I figured most of our state names are either Indian or English, with very few other European names.

As for Montana, with Custer having been so popular in the nation, the state could've voted to change their name, whatever seems interesting.
