different or no Proclamation of 1763

What if the Proclamation of 1763 hadn't given what is later known as the North-West Territory to Quebec or totally forbidden settlement west of the Appalachians?

A) How is the new territory administered?

B) Are more colonies formed, like Charlotiana or Vandalia?

C) Are there more Indian wars, like Dunmore's War? If so, which i think likely, what effect does this have on future Crown policy and the colonies?

D) Would these changes in policy presage more lenient policies towards the colonies and, whether or no, would the American Revolution be post-poned or totally avoided?

Hey, somebody help me out here, please!

This is big stuff. I mean, am i the only one here that wants to see Vandalia become reality? And that's only one part of this.

The proclamation was widely unpopular in the Colonies and is often cited as a cause of ARW. As such, a POD that prevents the proclamation is often used to keep the Colonies under British rule. I take a contrariwise view. Allowing the colonists to cross the Appalachians is going to cause more conflict with the NAs. Either the Crown will have to send more soldiers (and probably add taxes) to defend the colonists, or the colonists will have to become more self reliant. Either way, I don't see the ARW being delayed.

The Proclamation of 1763 did not give the North West Territory of OTL to Quebec. That was the Quebec Act of 1775. Also, anything short of a total ban on sedttlement wasn't going to be worth the paper it was written on. As it was, the P-63 was as effective as our own efforts today to control/stop people from illegally entering the USA from abroad. I've heard the act likened to "closing the barn door after the horses had escaped."

I imagine that eventually, the Crown would have had to permit settlement of the territory. New provinces would have been created by decree of the king after the claims of several of the Atlantic seaboard colonies had been settled by the king. (Don't forget Transylvania:eek:)

Yes, definitly more Indian wars. Pontiac, Kaske, Black Hoof, Bryant, Blue Jacket, Little Turtle and Tecumseh doubled.

It certainly would de-pressurize the situation a great deal. Would the ARW be postponed or avoided? That depends on how issues such as taxation, trade and political representation are handled by the King, Parliament and the colonies.
