Different Metric Systems

Actually, it's a combination of that and the fact that they wanted 180 degrees between freezing and boiling. Which kind of starts to hint to me why they used 'angular' measurement terms for a unit of temperature.

Only if they base it off something similar to Celsius. Suppose they decide to set 100 degrees Kelvin based on 'human body temperature' :)?
With much larger *degrees, I would predict a conventional inclusion of the tenths place in the modern world. This would be somewhat different from OTL's temperatures, since there would be three digits involved in ordinary conditions, rather than two.

Then again, how necessary is the final digit of one of our temperature readings? Possibly the ATLers would simply dispense with our standard level of precision.
The definition of mole is based on the amount of 'elementary entities' in a gram of Carbon-12. So, if the mass unit is different, or they choose Hydrogen instead of Carbon, the mole is quite different.
I was a bit sloppy there. Yes, the fixing of *Avogadro's number depends heavily on the size of the *kilogram. But using hydrogen-1 instead of carbon12 would result in almost a one percent difference.

The reason for carbon-12 IOTL is that people had been using oxygen as the standard (I don't know why), but then discovered that natural oxygen appears in multiple isotopes. It turned out that the average nucleon mass of the natural mix of oxygen was closer to that of carbon-12 than to that of any other common isotope. An earlier cognizance of isotopes could well establish a subtly different molar metric (Oxygen-16 sits best with me).
