Different Geneva Conference 1954

I was pondering last night a different outcome to the 1954 Geneva Conference.

Assume Korea lasts a year longer (say Stalin doesn't die until Spring 1954) but the UN position is much stronger, back north of Pyongyang.

But Ho Chi Minh is stronger in Vietnam, more obvious and open support in the South.

So the powers that be cut a deal to basically split the baby.

Korea is unified under Rhee, a pro Western "democracy" with the DMZ between Korea and China.

Vietnam is unified under Ho, with elections to formalize it.

Cambodia and Laos are neutral nations, not impacted by the conflict in Vietnam because there isn't one.

So no Vietnam War and no Kims in Korea.

How plausible is the scenario and how does it impact things worldwide ?

As long as the DPRK/Kim 1st and the Chinese hold any territory they are not going to cede it, even with a DMZ along the Yalu.
