Different fate for Afro-Argentines

Early in it's history, Argentina had a sizable population of Africans who played an important role in it's culture. But due to several factors such as disease, disproportionally being drafted and killed in wars, and covert genocide, their population drastically declined to the point where they no longer make up even a percent of Argentina's demographics.

But how could things have turned out differently? What would happen if they still had a large population in Argentina?

So that maybe there could be a Liberia type settler colony in Namibia in a united La Plata scenario, any thoughts?

Would Afro-Argentines in numbers large enough to make it a viable colony, even want to settle there?

I think a less turbulent history for the country could aid the country's Black populace. Maybe if Argentina remained as an autonomous Spanish colony...

Yeah, Africans made up half of Rio de la Plata's population and the scenario precludes that Africans aren't being drafted and dying in Argentina's wars or being forced into disease ridden neighborhoods with no acess to healthcare. Plus I said a wanked Plata like Thande's UPSA in LTTW. So that would also include Africans frome Chile, Brazil, Uruguay, and others. Then there's also the fact that Namibia is more suitable for European settlement so the colonists wouldn't have to deal with diseases like the Liberians did.

But why would they leave Argentina to start a colony in Africa? And why would Argentina even want a colony?

They still exist in some form, they just mixed witj the rest of the population to the point of losing their distinctive traits.

That seems to be the case, not so much premature death as forced assimilation.
Combine that with the massive European immigration transformed the Argentine population, and that explains that.

That said, if Afro-Argentines did survive as a distinctive population, with a distinctive identity and territory and neighbourhoods and with a notable percentage of the population ... Perhaps a discriminated-against minority?
