I can see four years for the house, but eight year terms for senators is unlikely. It is too long a time. I cannot think of any upper house that elects every eight years, but I can think of plenty that stagger elections such as having a lower house with four year terms and an upper having six year terms.
Two years is too short for a lower house and eight years is too long for an upper house, four and six is perfect in my view.

The French Senate had 9 year terms until 2004, elected in thirds every 3 years by the Grands Electeurs. (members of the National, Regional & Departmental legislatures + representatives from the municipal councils)
