Did William the Conqueror Got Shipwrecked?

According to this video,

(check 7:03) William the Conqueror got shipwrecked because he tried to invade England when the weather didn't cooperate. Is this true or is this a comedic effect of the video maker (like Harold probably never actually said "I'm gonna be king" even if he said something close)?

Also, I knew of the Harrying of the North, but William burned down several villages that were not part of that operation. He was kind of a jerk.

Well, it's true that one of the reasons William might have waited months before invading England was the unfavorable winds . It's considered with a certain caution sometimes : I don't have the secondary sources on it at hand right now, but an agreement with Harald (quite plausible IMO) is sometimes proposed, as well than waiting Harold moving his own fleet (probably in conjunction with the former reason IMO).

Now you had a failed cross the 12 September from St Valéry harbor, which didn't involved William but some of his army, which delayed the operation to the late September. So it's partially true on general aspect, but possibly wrong on details.

That's not a great departure from warfare in England for the Xth and XIth century, tough. While very clearly brutal, there's a general vilification of Norman conquest at work in a certain historiography (which interestingly, rely partly on what Normans told of themselves, even the parts that are probably issued from justification and self-perception, just like the "blessed by Rome" part which should be nuanced).
