There have been conjectures since the time of Caesar that the Belgae were a Celto-Germanic people with a culture somewhat different from the Gauls. There is much controversy about this. Maybe the only contemporary documentation of their weaponry is in Caesar's "Gallic War". One might think, that being on the periphery of the Gallic civilization, that it would imply influence both from the Gauls and Germania, but adopting superior weaponry and materials from cultural contact is a given.
