DiCaprio in Batman Forever (1995)

"It was decided to replace Wayans with a different actor, Leonardo DiCaprio and Chris O'Donnell became the top two choices, with O'Donnell winning the part [of Robin]."
-Wikipedia

What if O'Donnel would have broken his leg and wouldn't be able to take the role? How would that influence DiCaprios career?

Batman Forever was extremely successful, only surpassed financially in 1995 by Toy Story. The issue becomes whether he would appear in Batman & Robin, whether that movie is as bad as OTL, and whether it interferes with his being in Titanic.

DiCaprio would improve Forever because as a better actor, he would make Robin more believable and possibly, maybe a little less, for lack of a better word, gay. Bad writing can be improved with decent acting, something Forever had a... difficult to describe effort on. (The acting was very zany, and I imagine that's the effect intended, but ultimately it was a bad move for the franchise.)

B&R is anyone's guess. I like to think it'd be shifted a bit by hopefully slightly better reviews for BF, but that's probably wishful thinking.

Ironically, the believability issue was precisely why DiCaprio was not hired, specifically, Shumacher thought the audience would not accept him in a fight.

The only sure way to avoid Batman and Robin is to avoid Batman Returns, after that wheels are in motion and are kind of hard to stop. Whether DiCaprio is in it depends on how well he works with Shumacher, and contract mumbo jumbo. I do not know enough to know either how well he would work with the director or what kind of contract he would have signed.
