Dhana Nanda helps Chanakya

So, doing some reading earlier today, and I discovered that Chanakya, Chandragupta Maurya's teacher had at one point approached Dhana Nanda about fighting off foreign invaders, but Dhana Nanda for some reason refused to help him. This consequently pushed Chanakya to work to overthrow Dhana Nanda using his pupil Maurya. What I am wondering is what might have happened had Dhana Nanda agreed to help the man? Would his empire potentially have lasted longer with the great scholar at his side and that of his descendants? Would Chandragupta have become a general?
