Development of the german language in a CP Victory

How important would the german language be in a CP victory ? I guess it would definatly be more important than it is today, atleast in Europe. English may would not be taught in schools as it is today, maybe german would be taught in schools instead ? Or would english still be the dominant language in Europe

Surely German would be dominant language in continent Europe and on some African countries. But German hardly challenge English. English would be still very spoken language and probably many still student that.

Well, I can see Eastern Europe, whatever happens, being dominated by a German custom markets. So German will be the main international language there. Otherwise, it is very dependent on how big a CP victory we get.

A major change compared with today would be in Germany self, less english words in the german language and most of the music played on radion or music TV would be in german.
The Anglo-American culture would not be as influential as today, not zero but less.

before ww1 french was the diplomatic language, which after ww1 (and esp after ww2) slowly got replaced by english.

In a CP win scenario i doubt if that will happen, not sure if french will hang on either in that function. One thing is sure, german was the scientific language in that period and with a cp win that will continue.

of course english would be spoken in the dominion and the us, but outside of that, i doubt it. Use of German will slowly get broader and broader, but in areas not under direct german influence i think french will persist for some time.

who knows we might even see expanded use of esperanto with several languages competing.

before WW1 english was not that widely spoken outside the dominion/ us actually

What about countries liek Austria Hungary ? would german be taught in schools like english gets taught today ?

English would still be pretty widely spoken, not necessarily dominant, but definitely a prestige global language. It is hard to see how it could not be, given the geographic spread of English speaking countries vs the concentration of say German.

Same would be true for Spanish

German would be the international language of eastern and central Europe and of course of the enlarged German African Empire. English would still be the largest (and most important) language.

German would be the de facto language of Physics and it would also be more common to see German published papers in other sciences as well. While I was still writing my TL I toyed with the idea of making the Germans leading on the study of primatology and human evolution for example.

Yes. And Poland, Belgium, Netherlands, Sweden, Finland, Poland, Baltics, Balkans, Ottoman Empire. The world is going to be split into trade zones and language groups.

English (American) - North and South America

English - UK, France and what remains of their empire.

German - Berlin to Iraq Axis. and any colonial zones.

We will not have one dominant language of trade like today, but 3. Maybe 4th one if you see a major Asian power (Japan? China? India?)

Several of the sciences. Asimov had a mystery story where the german language organic chemistry reference, started with a b, was referred to as indispensable in otls 60s.

It would be important in math, too, although probably secondary to english.

not if they are also taught their own langauge and if their language is the class their kids get all other classes in.

ofcourse, their language would also be respected and taught, german would be a seperate school subject.

IMO, in a clear CP win scenario, where German is the wave of the future, the Hungarians get crush a lot more often than not. And no, it only piss off 5.9% of the 13 million Hungarians. Most minorities would welcome the more tolerant Austrian policies towards minorities. And many non-elite Hungarians would appreciate having more power.

IMO, the most likely mechanism is that the Army is used to teach German. Something simple like if you don't speak German, you spend the first 6 months of your conscription in an immersion program. After you leave the Army, you will never be forced to used German again.

Also, most likely is not equal to probable.

Austria- Hungary would pretty much be in Berlin's sphere, so German would probably be thought to non- German speaking children as the international language. And the we of course have the fact that Vienna is German speaking, and German probably is the official language of the Austrian half of the empire anyways at this point.
