I found this passage from A Vertical Empire (about the British space program) on how the development of the LOX/kerosene engines for the Blue Streak missile needed to rely on license-built copies of the S-3 by North American Aviation (later Rocketdyne). How long would it have taken for a country like the UK, France, or China to develop LOX/kerosene engines indigenously in the 1950s or 1960s?
(Here, Delta refers to an engine, not a launch vehicle)
