A couple of questions about how Gran Colombia's economy could have developed.
Gran Colombia had some rather impressive reserves of coal and iron ore. When would these be technologically exploitable? Would they be available in the mid XIXth Century, or is more advanced mining technology needed? Let's not worry about political stability, investment capital, and the like just yet.
OTL, both Colombia and Venezuela are net food importers. Is this a matter of development and policy, or is it a matter of the land not being able to support the population? What population could a modern Gran Colombia support?
Forthe purposes of discussion, let's assume an unspecified post-1815 POD.
