Developement of music in ATL's.

This is something I haven't seen talked about too much, especially in TL's where the world is completely changed post-1900.

For instance, in "The Cuban Missile War Timeline" by Amerigo Vespucci, the 1963 plane crash that killed Patsy Cline, Cowboy Copas and Hawkshaw Hawkins is butterflied away, and that itself possibly butterflies away the 1964 plane crash that killed Jim Reeves. While Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn, Waylon Jennings countless other names that were popular from the 1960's-1980's are more or less still alive. Country music in this world is recognizable, but completely different than OTL.

What about Rock in TTL? What about other TL's?

I've got an idea for a TL in which Country is more left-wing, or perceived so. It has resulted in several changes, some minor, some major, and some I haven't all thought out yet.

Leftwing politics can be at times as well rural as much as city peoples - in Canada, NDP had some popularity in rural canada, like the prairies, if I am right...

If you can write Phil Ochs in as a major player (and even have him survive the 1970s), you've got me interested :)

As an Ochs fan myself, that might be interesting.
I am sadly not an expert on country music. In addition, many songs from the earlier days may not necessarily be political. (There are some significant exceptions (including a Johnny Cash song that I was considering for the title). In addition, some songs could be considered to have political intent without there necessarily being any. (Johnny Paycheck's "Take This Job and Shove It" was considered the third-greatest protest song of all time by an online magazine. One of my favorite songs by my heroine was considered political by some commentators, simply due to the title, the optimistic tone and the time it was released. (It was "Change".)) Are there any good country songs before the 1990's dealing with racial inequality, for example?

Then there is the whole problem of crossover...

My TL has no rock and roll, no jazz all due to no Great Migration.

Instead? Super-folk music!
