A few dispirate sperm cells in the early 19th Century and we get
George V by Grace King of the United Kingdoms of Great Britain, Ireland, Hannover, Dominions and Colonies and Emperor of the Dominion of India. After seeing her at a ball George decided that Alberta was the Princess for him and so he married Princess Alberta of Saxe Coburg-Gotha.....

In Prussia Elizabeth Von Bismark continued to make an entry in her journal...(something concerning an alien space bat that had transformed her into a man-but not only a man but a great Statesman-a unifier of Germany had featured in her imagination).

So the sperm cells have done their job and we now have a chap in place of Vicky. The personal union continues and due to the officious nature of bureacracy by hook or by crook Hannover is now in direct union with Great Britain too. British civil servants continue to support Brunswick as they did post 1815 and also in Oldenburg-such that these fall pretty much into the British orbit. The 3 German provinces together form a mittel England within the post 1815 purely customs union North German Federation.

The 1830 crisis (and others) have resulted in the formation of new states including a Kingdom of Greece (still gets its own German King) but not Belgium. Instead France has grown a tad as has Luxemburg and the Netherlands retains Flanders. Prussia? Prussia is what it always was-a militaristic, rural, Protestant anti French state.

Bringing us to the present day....

1. Has Europe indulged in any profligate wars a la 1864, 1866, 1870 and of course the Great Wars?
2. In place of the 2nd and 3rd Reich as History's criminals perhaps the greatest criminals are the Second Empire and (insert chosen number here) eme Republic? I can see Nappy III and IV getting rather nostalgic for the good old times of Nappy I.....
3. Thoughts as to any form of German unification
4. Facism and Socialism-any impact?
5. Industrialisation and the German post war miracle-remember no WW2 but perhaps wars elsewhere, so who is the new Germany? Who is producing the BMW's of this world?

Get thinking caps on chaps and chapesses....
