Decisive victory for the Grand Alliance

Is there a chance that the Netherlands gets part of the southern Netherlands? Probably not all if it or even all of the Dutch speaking areas, but I can see them get part of it. Maybe the areas north of (and including)Oostende, Gent and Mechelen and all of Gueldre's overkwartier (no idea what the English names for these areas are). If the Southern Netherlands gain Artois and French Flanders and Hainaut, you still get a substantial bufferstate.

But as far I undertsand, the Rpeublic simpl yhad no interst at all in obtaining any territories from the Southern Netherlands. Also, might be a bad idea to piss off the power you want to have owner of the buffer territory.

I think that it depends on who you were speaking to in the republic. I am pretty certain most stadholders were interested in gaining it and various regents were too (Some provinces and cities voted against the peace of westphalia, because they hoped to gain more territories south). Most were uninterested in fighting a war to get them, but I think that a lot of them wouldn't mind gaining them in a war they were fighting anyway.
And pissing of Austria, I thought that Austria didn't realy care about the southern Netherlands. I might be wrong about that and thinking about another timeframe. Als adding Artois, French Flanders, French Hainaut and Frenche Compte to the southern Netherlands, may be the compensation for the northern parts of Flanders and Brabant that Austria would lose to the Netherlands.

The Southern Netherlands were Spanish at that time. Austria didnt care, true, but I dont think they would go as far as to gift away territories. Maybe they would sell them or something, but then the question is again wether the Republic would be intersted enough in it to pay surely large sums.

As for Hainaut etc., those were not compensation, but the war aim, after all.
