Death Row Organ Collection in the US

In China, it has been alleged that executed prisoners have their organs removed and used for transplant purposes, with the mode of execution (a single bullet to the back of the head) being optimum for this purpose.

What if this was done in the US? It certainly seems efficient, even though many will find it unsettling.

(Note: I am NOT suggesting other features of the Chinese justice system, like a lack of due process and labor camps for dissidents, so don't even start)

The problem with this is that most death row inmates likely do not qualify as organ donors. You have a fairly high rate among inmates for Hepatitis C due to drug use and getting prison tattoos the drug use alone may be enough to disqualify a large portion of inmates. Also I’m uncertain but it may be that having a homosexual relation would bar you from donating organs since I know it’s actually something they ask you about when giving blood but I’m not positive about that.

Very good point.
