Death of Kartir: Changes for Zoroastrianism and Sassanids

Kartir from historical sources was a pretty good archtype of the Powr Behind the Throne priest guy.

Coming to power under Shapur I he was the Moabadan-Moabad for the next three or so subsequent Shahanshahs of the Sassanid Empire. His influence on the religious development of the Empire and region were fairly influential.

-Made Zoroastrianism a very Monotheist, Iconoclastic State Religion.
-Brutally ended all religious opposition within Zoroastrianism and of other faiths within the Sassanid Empire.
-This includes most famously Mani of Manichaeanism but also Buddhists, Christians, Zurvanites and so forth.
-Ended the Shrine Worship started by the Parthians.
-Was likely a powerful and influential backer for the Shahanshahs after Shapur which help stabilize their reigns.

So, lt us say that sometime during the reign of Shapur, Kartir has a...deadly fall.

What Change might we see?

From what I understand Shahpur was religiously tolerant, yet wished to reform the Zoroastrian faith. With Kartir dead we might see Manicheanism and later Mazdakism not be so heavily persecuted. Wasn't one of the reasons the Byzantine-Sassanid wars were started. Might we see a weakened Arab Invasions ?
