Saint-Petersburg
January 1st 1836
It was a stormy night as Nicholas I, Emperor of Russia, sat back in the couch. Then, a figure knocked on the door, requesting admittance. He said that the figure could enter, changing history. He watched in horror, as the figure, revealed to be one of his most trusted generals, took a loaded pistol from the holster. He tried to yell for the guards, but it was cut short with a sound of thunder and a gurgling sound, as the gun fired and a bullet entered his left lung, leaving the proud Tsar to drown in his own blood, as the gurgling continued and the Emperor slipped from his couch onto the now blood-slicked floor.
The figure looming over him as the life drained from his eyes fired again, this time into his heart. The last sight Nicholas saw was the figure lifting the gun to his temple, and the last thing he heard was a gun-shot.
SAINT-PETERSBURG TIMES
OUR GLORIOUS EMPEROR MURDERED BY DEPRAVED ASSASSIN
Our glorious Emperor, Nicholas, has been brutally assassinated by one of his most trusted friends, a General of Russia itself. He was shot in the lung and heart; by the time the guards arrived both he and the assassin were dead. Motives are unknown, but it is thought that the assassin had ties to liberals in the Officer Corps, but it is unknown whether he had co-conspirators who helped him kill our Emperor.
Regardless, Grand Duke Alexander is to be crowned as soon as possible, and the rulership of our sacred Motherland will surely pass to a great man, God willing.
