When Georgia declared independence from Britain, she renamed all of the "parishes" after members of parliament friendly to their cause. (i.e. Burke County, Richmond County, and of course Chatham County).
Of all the colonies, Georgia would have been the most difficult to rename, simply because of the strong royalist sentiment present in the colony due to the popularity of the then royal governor James Wright. However, I would humble propose New Chatham or Pittlandia or Pittsylvania as possible names.
