So I've decided to make a thread for my alt hist, a sort of thing to regroup every map/wikibox I've made.

The premise behind this timeline is basically this: The Franco-British Union proposal in ww2 gets accepted, Barbarossa goes worse for Hitler, Pearl Harbor does not happen in 1941, making the United States not enter the war.

I'm pretty new at this and it won't be 100% accurate. There will be errors, so let me know if there's anything too jarring.

The situation in november 1943

World war 2 started in 1939, with the beginning of the german invasion of Poland. The United Kingdom and France sought to protect Poland and declared war in retaliation.

No military help was given to Poland other than the small french offensive into Saarland. The Soviet Union invaded eastern Poland on the 17th of September, claiming that the polish state had "ceased to exist" Germany annexed western Poland and the soviets annexed its eastern parts, but Poland never surrendered.

In April 1940, Germany invaded Denmark and Norway to protect its shipments of iron ore from Sweden, and Winston Churchill was appointed as Prime minister on the 10th of May.

On the same day, Germany launched a huge offensive against the Netherlands, Luxembourg and Belgium to circumvent the Maginot Line. The Germans went through the Ardennes with next generation tanks and encircled the best French and British troops, which had to be evacuated in Dunkirk. The Germans quickly advanced through France and Paris fell on the 14th of June. On the same day, British diplomat Robert Vansittart and Morton wrote with Monnet and his deputy René Pleven a draft "Franco-British Union" proposal. Churchill was sceptical at first, but did not want to risk France seeking an armistice. On June 16th, the union was announced. It was decided that the french government would be safely escorted by the British fleet to Algiers, as mainland France was no longer safe.

With Italy declaring war on the 10th, the Mediterranean was now a war zone but plans were made to take Libya and Ethiopia quickly.

Before that however, Spain entered the war and took Gibraltar, changing things drastically. Gibraltar fell, but success was still seen in Africa. On the 14th of march 1941, Portugal was invaded by Spain, now calling for Iberian unification and calling themselves the Iberian state. Franco-British troops quickly landed in Lisbon and the city held, Operation Lock was launched and multiple naval invasions took place in southern Spain to alleviate the pressure on Lisbon. Madrid was bombed, and Hitler's hate for the Mediterranean people, who were "below the aryans" grew even more.

Nevertheless, Hitler's plans would continue, and on the 6th of June 1942, Hitler invaded the Soviet Union. They were supported by Finland, Hungary and Romania. The primary targets of this offensive was Ukraine, Moscow and the baltics with the hope of ending the war before winter. It went surprisingly well for the Germans, but by the time the soviets mobilized, the advance was extremely slow, and winter set in.

To keep pressure off the soviets, operations to invade the Mediterranean islands, including Sicily were achieved. On February 28th 1943, Italy itself was invaded from the south, and the Italian king surrendered and fired Mussolini, who escaped to milan. The german army came and created a new Italian nation known as the Italian socialist republic. They were no more than a german puppet state now.

On August 9th 1943, with the soviets pushing back and the Germans being spread thin, Operation Overlord was launched, Canadian, Franco-British, Icelandic and Indian troops landed on multiple beaches in Brittany, quickly liberating mainland France before being slowed down and digging in.

The tide was turning for the axis, and Europe would be freed from tyranny.
