DBWI: Your views on the establishment of the United European Federation

I think it was inevitable that most of the continent would become a single state but I think it's going to cause problems in the long run.
The Commonwealth had enough problems with the US, China and the Sovereign Union without having a superpower on its doorstep.
Seeing as the UK is now potentially vulnerable that's one step closer to First Among Equals becoming a dead letter (having a Superpower less than 50 miles from your shores doesn't exactly inspire confidence).

What really worries me is the expansionism of the preceding European Union, after the Gorbachev reforms which established the Sovereign Union, the EU started gobbling up the former Warsaw pact nations like nobody's business. Now that Putin's Head of State I can see problems for Yugoslavia, to be fair they were always walking a tightrope with their plague on both your houses neutrality after the war, but now that they border with 2 superpower nations ...

Strange, as i was informed that the UK was part of it,but i may have been missinformed.

No, we left in the 70s when they started calling for greater political integration and revitalised the commonwealth into a military and economic alliance, particularly after the Falklands Crisis of 78. Side effect was to see Malta and Cyprus leave as well in the Euro financial crisis of 85 as the pound was a more solid bet.

OOC:All of this is OOC, obviously. ;)

OOC: This isn't a DBWI, right? Isn't this Role Playing? ;)

Erm, how is it role playing?

It is simple, this is a "Double Blind What If" thread, right?

A "What If" is a question asked about what if events in this universe had gone differently. e.g. What if Hitler had won WWII?

A "Double Blind What If" is a question asked about what if events in a different universe had gone differently, specificaly if things had happened as in our universe. e.g. What if Hitler had lost WWII?

A recent example from this forum; in our history the USA brought Alaska from Russia (obviously).
A WI would be: WI:America does not buy Alaska?
A DBWI would be: DBWI: America buys Russian Amerika

Since the United European Federation was not established in this universe, this can't be a DBWI.

Not a minute too soon . A common market for the bankers and industrialists, but a true federal government for the people .
