OOC: Southern California is a possibility (and a massive stretch at that). All of the west coast is absolutely ASB.If Steward had bought the damn piece of land and if Stonewall had not gone through with his whole 'Marching Through California' Campaign that took most of the West Coast from us.
OOC: How the hell can the CSA buy it if the US can't even afford it? North: Industrial, Massive Population, Wealthy; South: Agrarian, Small Population, Poor outside of the landed aristocracy.Well, for Steward to buy the land from the Russian empire, there'd have to be considerably more funds in Union hands. The US wasn't going to put itself in more debt for some useless lan, no matter how much crab was there, or how cheap it was. But if somehow the USA could afford it, maybe this could prevent the Alaskan Purchase War between the US and CS?
