DBWI: WI the Colts draft Peyton Manning?

(OOC: I was inspired by this after reading the 1997 NFL standings, specifically the Saints)

Now that Peyton Manning has retired after winning his fifth Super Bowl with the New Orleans Saints, it's easy to forget that the Saints nearly didn't have the #1 draft pick. If the Saints had won a few close games, they would have fallen out of the running to get Peyton (who happens to be the son of a previous Saints QB, Archie Manning).

So, WI the Saints fall out of the running for the #1 pick in the 1998 NFL Draft? The team that was in second was the Indianapolis Colts, and they decided to go with Andre Wadsworth. I can see them picking Peyton (reportedly, they never even considered Ryan Leaf because of his...issues). Of course, this probably butterflies away their drafting of Donovan McNabb...

How well would the Colts have done with Peyton? They did face the Saints in Super Bowl XL, and nearly won.

And, please, don't get a Cardinals fan angry by bringing up Ryan Leaf; yes, he was horrible. However, at least the Cardinals drafted Peyton's brother Eli, and they had a good NFC title matchup this year.

I certainly still see Peyton helping out after Hurricane Katrina (remember the Manning for Governor petition, anyone)...

I wonder if was true that Saints Tanked on Purporsed(Some people Argue is true as Mike Ditka say it but other like me he is just angry he was sacked that awful 2-14 seasons) or just sucked as 80's Aint's. Remember something... Manning Coach was not Bill Bellichick(who abandoned Jets after for that offer) but his own Father Archie and that was vital for Peyton one of hell terrific Rookie year(being sacked to the death by the dirty falcons in NFC championship game was not his fault, his own father tell him that is normal) with a record of 40 TD passes and just 8 interceptions .

So the Greastest Show in Turf of 99-00 is butterfly away(and Peyton beating elway as a pass the torch moment too?) i think football will not survived post hurricanne katrina if that is true.

If Colts keep peyton and hired Archie they would be fine, peyton would be succesful just will take much more time (maybe just two or three superbowl win at best) wonder if they will hire kurt warner(aka the one almost beat peyton) or he will goes to new england as was planned?

Cardinal Fans here....Leaf was a dissaster but was just sympton not the cause how terrible were the cards till 2004(when we fired anyone not name Bill Bidwill, Hired Bills Parcells, drafted lil bro Eli and just fixed the ship) and we finnaly got back into big wins...except Lil bro Eli is unable to beat big bro peyton(seriously what is wrong with him,3 NFC championship games, three massive loss) wonder if is true Archie is rooting more for peyton and that depress him.

Who cares, my Browns will still suck...

Browns are the kind of team even if they draft a sure thing like Luck 1st overall with their luck he suffer a career ending injury early in his career (or still play but never the same like carson palmer).

I'm just surprised that the Colts are still in Indianapolis. They were on the verge of moving to Los Angeles, but I guess McNabb did play pretty well for them in the early 2000s with all those 10+ win seasons. They've never won the Super Bowl though. I remember Colts fans were ready to riot after they passed on Leaf.
