DBWI: WI John II Comnenus gets hit by an Arrow?

So, I found this interesting factoid while browsing the 'web[1]. Apparently, John II Comnenus was out hunting when he was almost hit by a poisoned arrow. WI it had hit and he had died? What would be the implications, I think it's almost certain Rhomania would fall before the present day, but what other things would happen?

[1] Short for Cobweb, similar to OTL internet.

Yes! Use of my term is spreading! :D

The death of John II does not neccesarily greatly derail the Komnenid restoration though- all of his sons were fairly competent successors, and whomever he chooses, I think they'll be able to see it through. Whether the Turkish state will crumble as easily as it did though is another matter, as is whether they would have had the vision John did to settle large numbers of Slavs on the Anatolian Plateau.

In general, I'm going to say we'd likely still see a Rhomania surviving in some form or other, but it would likely be a much more Hellenic state, without so much of a strong Slavic influence. I also wonder what impact this would have on the merchant states of Italy- would they still end up absorbing the remnants of the Crusader States under Rhomanian protection in the 14th century, or would they remain exclusively dependent upon the Roman Empire for their commerce?
