DBWI: Why are we Canada's bitch?

Hi I live in the United States of America and I was wondering why are we always overshadowed by Canada? I'm so sick of japanese Anime's always showing the US joining Canada or something.
WE ARE OUR OWN COUNTRY GOD DAMNIT!

Why are we? Because we speak English, we only cross 1/3rd of the contenent, lack resources, and had so much in the way of restrictions that no one immigrated here. Europeans prefered the farmland of Louisianna, the Oregon country of Canada, or the Dominion of Victoriasland (OTL California). We've been checked by them since well... what the 1920's? and we weren't much better before that.

OOC: Can I have the Southern states separate please?

OOC: *facepalm*

IC: We aren't Canada's bitch, we're very close economic partners. If it weren't for Canadian (and by extension, British), support, the country wouldn't even have survived the Race Revolts.

I don't know why you think we're Canda's bitch. We have an independent foreign policy which doesn't require us to help subjugate the home country's colonies every time they want independence, almost equal population, and a economy that is on the way up. Yes, we have a lower GDP then any other dominion in North America, but that's only because we have the hillbilly Georgians and Carolinians weighing it down.

You really think it's only the US who thinks that way. We in the Province of Columbia and Oregon felt backstabbed when the Prime Minister Bennett and his cabinet decided to join Canada in 1972. As it turned out, the Russians weren't a threat, and the only reason why Canada wanted C&O is because of the Pacific ports of Granville (by the Fraser), Seattle, and Vancouver (by the Columbia).

Sure we are low but not that low on our GDP. Although I have to admit without Canada we're pretty much screwed. :(

Speaking as someone from overseas, I think it's kinda amusing that Canada covers such a large amount of land and yet takes its name from a comparatively small area in present-day Quebec, while the United States of America has such a grandiose name and only stretches from the east coast to the Mississippi River. Of course it's probably never occurred to a lot of people as that's how it's always been, but if you think about it it is a bit funny.
