Poll coming soon.

OOC: This is a TL where the Shah turns Iran into a real democracy. Soviets don't exist anymore, and neither does Islamofascism.

Oooh, that's a good premise. So does this mean there's still anti-zionism around, or is the country more-or-less western/modern/liberal?

The Jewish population in Iran continued to thrive even after the Shah democratized the country. They have a guaranteed seat in parliament and some Jews have served as close advisers to the Shah and cabinet ministers.

I am certainly not voting for the Iranian Hezbollah Party led by that political gadfly and Holocaust denier Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

They're not even on the list for this poll...they're very small...

I'm voting for the liberals, because we are on our way to becoming a well-respected, modern, western nation, and Tunya Audain is just the woman that will bring Iran into the final stages of modernity. We will be the first Middle Eastern nation to elect a woman, and be the most liberal Muslim nation. Take THAT, Turkey:D.

OOC: really? Islamofascism?

IC: indeed, how the man can deny the massacres of the Ethiopians by the Italian Empire is simply disgusting..

OOC: I'm referring to extremist Islam, not Islam as a whole. ;)

IC: And the Holocaust in Europe of the Jews back in WWII, too...

IC: I'm voting for the Islam Greens. We need to save the nature and the resources Allah gave us. It's shameful how much the resources are wasted, how much the people are losing the faith, regardless if it is Allah or god or anyone else. Todays people only think about money and power. So it's time that the people return to Allah and treat the things which were given by him with respect.

Still I don't support Ahmadinejads things. This guy is not a real muslim. He's abusing islam to spread his hate against Israel and the world. When do people learn that religions should accept each other, rather than fight each other?

OoC: This was a very islamic post by myself although I'm catholic, but who cares anyway...

As a Brit, I hope the Conservatives will get in, as the opinion polls appear to support- their free market economy has been a model for the rest of the Islamic world, and their policies over the past decade or so have undoubted contributed to Iran becoming a successful first world country, with a free media, prosperous middle class, and happy compromise between remaining true to Islam, and being a close and important ally of the West.

It's still not fascist. Fascism and supremacism are two different things, since ever !! (Granted that both did quite prone to overlap each other... But the kind of Nazism that's blessed by God is the one I'm doing now :D )

OOC: The POD is later than that..
Voted for the conservatives, the more leftist parties need to realise we Iranians are NOT the west, and we can't always follow their mores. Just beacause we aren't hijabi doesn't mean we could tolerate abortion or marajiuana! The Conservatives have done much for this country, our improved Concordes still fly faster than the speed of sound, and we stand proudly in the G9; our army is the strongest in the Mideast. Tolerance and acceptance of all genders, all religions is prevalent, even those of other persuasions can live in peace. Iran is perfect, as one can see from the top of the Bank Melli Tower, tallest in the world (even although the Burj Dubai will overtake it soon :(). We needn't abandon our morals and become lost in sin, as the left wants, nor should we throw ourselves back into the medeval ages as Amhadi-Nejad wants too (OOC: that's how the FT spells it!). We must follow in the footsteps of Reza Shah I, who brought us out of Russo-British bondage, and Mohammed Reza Palhavi, who turned this nation into the powerhouse that it is today, as well as bringing democracy, and Reza Shah II, who has carefully guarded this country since 1996.

Iranian democracy is a sham. Since 1979 the people of Iran have consistently chosen Socialism, yet every time, the Shah and his supporters have ignored this demand.

Just look at this election, the Iranian Communist Party is still banned from standing, even though as many as 35% of Iranians say that they sympathise with that party more than any other. Socialist politics are kept split and divisive, belittling the true voice of the people.

That being said, I support Ahangaranj's Islamic Social Democrats. Their schism from the Tudeh helped bring the will of the people closer to the Iranian majlis.

OOC: Getting rid of anti-Zionism in a Muslim country is completely ASB. How exactly are Iranians supposed to all suddenly decide that it is perfectly fine for White people to slaughter Muslims with impunity?

You DO realize that Tudeh was a former Communist party and was always legal?

OOC: Not really- Israel in ATL is more nice and worked with Palestinians for peace more effectively.

Also, there are plenty of non-white Jews.

Well being an American, I am going to "support" the Liberals, Tunya is the right woman at the right time for Iran.

I'm a Muslim - I converted, I am the whitest guy you know - and I have hijabi friends that live in Dearborn so I have to ask, what is the status of hijab in Iran?

The Shah was a huge anti-Zionist and also opposed the wearing of scarves and vales by females. Assuming this is the same Shah, the Persian state would be a great power, very liberal and very anti-Israeli. It would probably be much like Lebanon, culture wise, assuming the Shah somehow manages to convince the majority of people in Iran to conform to his fast-paced and forced, and in many places unwelcome Westernization masked as "Liberalism."

Most Iranians and Palestinians are as "white" as most Israelis.

You might as well complain about Northern Ireland being a case where "White people are allowed to slaughter Catholics with impunity."
