DBWI: Where were you on 9/11?

God, that was scary! I was driving kids to school when the first one went off. I hauled the kids back home and my wife took them to the safest place we knew of - her sister's house out in the boonies. I told her I had to go to the office as all national telecom network personnel were likely to be called in. She said she'd divorce me if I got my @$$ nuked, and then we kissed and went to where we needed to go. She was called in to her job at the hospital soon after, but she refused to go in until some adults were in charge over all the clan's kids. I didn't see them for three days, until we were satisfied that we had suffered / stopped all of the attacks.

I was attending a education rally in Sacramento, California where President Al Gore had been speaking. When the news came that the first nuke had exploded, the Secret Service exploded into action bringing the President to McClellan AFB. He demanded that he be briefed along the entire way, and was already calling the members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) when the second bomb exploded. Few remember that before the election, no one ever figured Gore would become a war president.....

Who would have known we would have ended up in Iraq, Afghanistan and Iran 7 years later.
After the amount of deaths caused in the 9/11 Disaster, no one in their right mind would dispute the need for the measures that were involved. The fact that the Alliance still includes the People's Republic of China, Russia, and France, nations that have traditionally been hesitant to participate in American military ventures, despite 7 years of turmoil, shows the immense impact of the events of 2001....

But did you notice China and Russia becoming more and more hesitent when the President mentioned he wanted to invade Saudi Arabia? The Gore administration has no idea where Al'Qaeda or the WMDs are, he is simply blindly searching.

ooc: First half is what i really did that day

I had been at the university all day and got home about around 15.30. The swedish newsagencys hadnt gotten around to air the news yet and i put the clothes in the washingmashine and cooked my mikrodinner and ate while i watched Baywatch alone in my dormkitchen since most other students were still at school. Then i went to my room and settled down to read Harry Turtledoves Breakthroughs. Around 15.58 my mother phoned (Morrel was about to roll across the river, he didnt do that for another day since i forgott all about it) and asked me why i hadnt phoned her and told her the news. I said "Huh" and pressed on on my TV and while i waited for it to warm up the news began on the radio.

I was shocked to see the photos coming in. Statue of Liberty melted, the high buildings turned into ruins and lots of dead people. ANd then i saw pictures from Japan were people of Nagasaki and Hiroshima told the cameras "Well, now they know how it feels"

And the day after FIFA withdraw the world cup from Japan and Japan is still boycotted by many countries.
