DBWI: What Will Happen to "Thicke of the Night" Now?

Comrade Thicke will be greatly missed. His services were critical in re-educating the American populace to abandon their false Capitalist beliefs. I believe the politburo will chose a successor soon. The Ministry of Truth plays a huge role and I know the Glorious Leader will be looking for someone to carry the torch. The show will carry on, though under different name. Who knows what that will be.

Really sad news today. "Thicke of the Night" has been America's leading late night TV talk show for 33 years (displacing the now-almost-forgotten Johnny Carson). What will become of it without Alan Thicke? https://www.bostonglobe.com/arts/te...rtedly-dies/3Zdqkx3KTEGMD6ACOEBFLN/story.html

I've heard that Al Franken may be in line to replace him-the guy was a huge hit on Comedy Central!

But indeed, I'll always miss Alan Thicke-he was to comedy what Peter Jennings was to news.

I was reading about that in 2004 that Barry Obama was planning to do a senate run but that his campaign was seen as a joke and such.

Thickes Fake communist bits were pretty hilarious, thanks for reminding me of them.

I heard Ms. Robinson wants to do a pre-news show that emphasizes civil rights for blacks, LBGTQI, etc. and solutions on how to live together in today's complicated world. And that ABC (ahem, Oprah) likes that idea because it's trendier than the 'been done' late night show.

How about Kirk Cameroon that has the show after Thicke, he has spend a lot of time with Thicke, remember when Kirk started out he was Thickes replacement when Alan was in that car accident and in hospital for a time. Alan has said in interwievs that he sees Kirk as a surrogate son.

Or they can try the Russian comedian that is a host of the Wiev, Valeri Bure

But Kirk's contract with NBC expires next month and he's already signed on to do "NCIS: Pensacola" with CBS. I don't see CBS releasing him for NBC's pleasure. Did you know Kirk's show is being replaced with a 'late night' game show hosted by - damn, can't remember the name. Some variation on Jeopardy, but 'naughtier'. I remember watching an interview with Trebeck about how he felt about the 'naughty version' and he said he'd wanted to host it and turn the daytime version over to someone new.

OoC: HOLY SHIT AL FRANKEN WAS A COMEDIAN!
IC: Peter Jennings has nothing on Dan Rather, I guess that you only think that because of his struggle with lung cancer. Dan Rather. Will. Be. Remembered.

Rather more for walking off the set for 6 or 7 minutes of dead air and admitting he couldn't support his story on Bush. Two unprofessional charges that cannot be levelled at Jennings.
