DBWI: What if we had remained Christian in Europe?

As we know, the defeat of the Kaisar al-Rum (I think that's it, those Rum aren't my area of expertise) led to the conquest of what had been the backwater of Europe by the armies of the Umayyad Kalifa. This led to our Ummization, and so now we follow the religion of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Now, my question is that if we had retained the incipient Latin-rite civilization that was growing at the time, what would have happened? Our brothers in Islam in the Middle East were a bit more accepting of our presence at first, as well as the Muslims of India. But would they have accepted a gift offered from the Peoples of the Book the same way? Would Europe's Christians have been so willing to engage in violence as Europe's Muslims were?

The war we fought was started as a war against the lax practices of the Middle East, and in the process we conquered them. But in the Turtle Continent* we managed to establish a sort of rapport with the powerful societies of the southern continent, but would Christianity with its obsessive penchant for needling every thought of a person have done the same?

And also, in modern times we have the New Islam* movement that wants to Re-Islamicize our society. They consider the result of the information brought over from Constantinople after the advent of the Mongols to have been a bad thing for our society, and the power and majesty that our unique form of Islam enjoys worldwide to have been a corruption of the Iman. And even worse is that you've got these figures like Aurangzeb Al-Bashr in the United States that think that the growth of immigration from North African Muslims and Middle Eastern Muslims is going to corrupt our unique Islam with their strange ways and their stricter adherence to the Maliki and Shafi Maddhabs. I hope the Christians wouldn't develop that idiocy, either...

OOC: Presume this is in an Arabized version of English. The POD is that the Muslims took Constantinople the first time, Europe becomes a backwater of Islam, but then goes out and conquers the world as it did in our world. Euro-Islam is very peaceful and more than somewhat secular, and this is producing a Muslim version of the Religious Right. The Muslim Europe is also experiencing immigration from the Arab world and from the East, which is producing a bit of a xenophobic backlash. Europe has its own Maddhab, the Tumasin (based on an Islamic scholar who created a pan-European version of Shariah in the period around the time of the *Age of Empires.

*North America.

yes.

look at the history - even before becoming a state religion, the Christians were at each others' throats, a tradition I'm sad to say we continued after Constantine the Great's conversion.

and yes, I'm a Christian, not some apologist.

Well, maybe not so much. If you weren't constantly under threat from the Islamic world, you might not have had to fight as much.
